Book Buses to Bring Literacy to

Lyrics on the Lawn

Starting Thursday July 10th the first of the two local school systems' book buses will visit Lyrics on the Lawn.

The Greene County Schools Magic Book Bus will be at Lyrics on the Lawn on July 10th and 17th beginning at 6:00pm. All children are encouraged to come check out the books onboard the bus.

The Greene County Schools buses started running in 2017. The goal is to develop a love of literacy for all ages, as well as prevent the "summer slide" for students. The "summer slide" refers to the decline in academic skills and knowledge that students experience during summer break. The bus visits a multitude of places in Greene County over the span of 6 weeks in the summer and varying times throughout the year. Lyrics is grateful they have the opportunity to join us these two weeks. Book bus organizers are thankful to all their partners who support the Magic Book Bus!

We hope to see many children visiting and enjoying the Magic Book Bus on Thursday July 10th and July 17th.

Lyrics on the Lawn is a free summer concert series presented by Main Street: Greeneville on the lawn the Dickson-Williams Mansion in the heart of historic downtown Greeneville, TN each Thursday evening during the month of July.
